New singles, tours from Dappled Cities, Graveyard Train and King Gizzard
There’s been a few decent Australian announcements today. Three years on from their well-received third LP, Zounds, Sydney-siders Dappled Cities have released their new single Run With The Wind. It comes with an announcement of a few shows, including one at Northcote Social club on the 4th of May.
One of the best live bands I’ve seen in the last few months, Graveyard Train, have also released a new single. They have a highly unique sound, kind of 60s rock with strong blues tones. Their new single I’m Gone will be on their new album Hollow to be released in May to coincide with a national tour, with shows at The HiFi on June 1 & 2.
While I gave Graveyard Train the boot at Meredith, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard were also an impressive act at the festival. I’ve been following the group pretty closely recently, and I’m liking the sound of their new single Bloody Ripper. The second track is a western, spoken word piece, which is a change of pace for the regional Victorians. King Gizzard will play Bar Open on the 29th of April. Also, the artwork for the tour poster is amazing.
