New Music from Titus Andronicus

Titus Andronicus probably released one of the best albums of 2010 The Monitor to much aplomb. Honestly it’s quite refreshing to see a band that attempts and in this case succeeds in establishing a nuanced approach to lyrics and songwriting in general. Shakespeare probably wouldn’t mind the appropriation of his great tragedy in the name of this band and you can see the influence of great thinkers on Titus Andronicus with the myriad of references to Shakespeare and Nietzsche. If you haven’t already listened to The Monitor I highly recommended it nonetheless the recently released free download mix tape which includes live and acoustic recordings of B sides, new songs, and some great singles off The Monitor is definitely worth a gander. One particular highlight is the new track ‘Upon Viewing Oregon’s Landscape With the Flood of Detritus’ and here’s the video.
