New music from Hot Chip, The Hives
In the last couple of days we’ve been given a couple of new songs from some all-time favourites.
This morning, Hot Chip dropped the first track off their next album, In Our Heads which will come out on June 11. Flutes sees the band pushing more into the realm of dance music, leaving behind their electro-pop roots. I’m undecided on the track compared to their old stuff, but am quite keen to hear the new album when it is released.
From earlier in the week, one of our all-time favourite live bands, The Hives also released their first track from their new album. After a series of short promotional videos from their website, the group confirmed their fifth LP Lex Hives will be released on June 1st. Go Right Ahead is a reasonably typical Hives track, with roaring vocal and aggressive drumming and was played to Australia audiences on their Splendour in the Grass tour last year. I’m more excited by this than the Hot Chip track, and cannot wait for the new album and, fingers crossed, another tour from “the greatest live band in the world”
